Chief Information Security Officer

Created on 27th Sep 2019

Role

This was a really exciting piece of work whereby the board had taken the decision to appoint a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to take overall ownership of the security strategy and direction. It was agreed that the role would report directly to the CIO and that the person would ideally come either from a retail background or a similar sector.

Search Process

Given the strong sector experience and overall complexity of the role, the search focussed on identifying senior security talent within the retail and travel industry. Candidates considered included CISO’s, Deputy CISO’s and Heads of Information Security from a wide variety of companies including direct competitors and comparable sectors.

Due to the strength of the partnership we have an intimate understanding of the culture of the business and this combined with the trust earned all candidates presented were selected for interview.

Outcome

After a strong round of interviews which Crestwood Search managed, the successful candidate came from a leading UK travel company where they were the Deputy CISO. They had a strong background in both UK and international retail and crucially had a clear a bold vision for security which the board bought into.
