Role
This was a really exciting piece of work whereby the board had taken the decision to appoint a new VP of Engineering to take overall ownership of the engineering strategy and direction. Managing circa 30 engineers and reporting to the CEO and acting as both a technology expert and people manager, making sure everyone in the engineering organization is successful and helping to fix the issues that are getting in the way of success.
Search Process
The process was started just before the Covid-19 lockdown measures were put in place and Rodney managed to deliver the shortlist of 6 high calibre candidates within 2 weeks of first meeting the company CEO. Given the importance of the hire and overall complexity of the role, the search focussed on identifying senior talent with experience of fast-paced, start-up environments.
Rodney was able to demonstrate an early and comprehensive understanding of the culture of the business and this combined with the trust earned all candidates presented were selected for interview.
Outcome
Given the current Covid-19 situation, the entire 4 stage interview process was done on Google Hangouts and the successful candidate was then able to start remotely within 2 weeks of being offered.
Key to the successful completion of the mandate was the level of engagement shown by the client, demonstrating genuine commitment resulting in a strong partnership being quick established.
